Get-Set™ from VCNA is a cold-weather concrete accelerator designed to achieve quicker, more predictable set times during winter pours. It enables placement at temperatures as low as -7°C while maintaining excellent surface appearance and finishing characteristics.
Get-Set™ speeds up concrete set times by up to 35%, countering delays from temperatures between -7°C and +7°C, where normal concrete can take over 16 hours to finish.

Reduces extra labor, overtime, equipment, heating, and rescheduling expenses associated with cold-weather delays.
Delivers excellent surface appearance and enhanced finishing characteristics, even in fluctuating ambient temperatures.
Enables on-schedule completion in winter, turning seasonal delays into ahead-of-schedule finishes.
Our CBM Concrete Solutions product line covers a wide range of project needs – from self-consolidating and high-workability flatwork mixes to fibre-reinforced, accelerated strength, extended workability, and durability-focused formulations. All mixes are performance-based and CSA-compliant. Our technical team can also develop custom mix designs for projects with specific structural or environmental requirements.
We work directly with engineers and contractors before the first truck arrives – reviewing exposure class, strength development, pumping distances, and workability windows to build a concrete program around your project, not around a standard product. The Gordie Howe International Bridge, the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, and 141 Bay are examples of that process at work.
Yes. Every customer has access to the same ready mix concrete solutions and quality-controlled mixes that go into our largest builds. Get in touch with your local CBM representative to discuss your requirements.
CBM is proud to be part of Votorantim Cimentos, one of the largest building materials companies in the world. Our VC Way is the operating philosophy that runs across the entire Votorantim Cimentos family – and it shapes how our teams work every day. For our customers, that means decisions made close to the job, clear communication from order to delivery, and accountability that does not stop once the truck leaves the plant. The work we did at Ripley’s Aquarium, the Gordie Howe International Bridge, and other countless projects reflects exactly that – sustained technical collaboration, dependable execution, and a standard of care that holds across the full life of a project.
Get‑Set™ works by increasing the rate of early‑age hydration reactions within the cement matrix. Its formulation modifies the availability of calcium ions, shortening the dormant and acceleration phases in the cement hydration curve. This controlled mechanism allows strength and stiffness to develop faster at cold ambient temperatures without causing rapid heat generation or compromising long‑term performance.
Yes. Get‑Set™ performs effectively in air‑entrained concrete and in blends containing fly ash, slag, or silica fume. Because colder weather can affect admixture interaction and water demand, mix adjustments (particularly for air content and slump retention) may be required. Conducting a trial batch at field temperatures is recommended to confirm set time, finishability, and strength gain targets.
Even with Get‑Set™, standard cold‑weather concreting practices remain essential: protect exposed surfaces from freezing, use heated water or aggregates when necessary, and maintain adequate curing temperatures. The admixture is designed to minimize delays and achieve reliable set times down to –7 °C, but consistent temperature control and proper insulation are key to attaining full early‑strength potential.
